Tui Na Massage
Tell me about it …

Tui Na, or “push and pull” in Mandarin, is a combination of acupressure and massage. According to traditional Chinese medical practices, poor blood and “qi” circulation are the causes of most illness. Therefore, the 200 decade old massage focuses on specific pain sites and is used for treating muscular-skeletal and chronic stress related disorders.

How will I feel …

During the process of your Tui Na session, you will find out that it does not usually apply any oils or use mechanical devices. You will be asked to wear loose clothing such as slacks and a light, natural fibre T-shirt or blouse. There is sometimes a misunderstanding that Tui Na is a painful and rough process, it is not to be. This traditional Chinese massage technique is characterised by skilful strokes of the gliding or rolling hand and arm movements. Gentle shaking, joint rotations and stretching of your body compliment this vigorous style.

You will be able to experience various techniques including squeezing, pulling, grabbing, kneading and stroking have been developed for certain conditions and all aim to relax the muscles, ease chronic pain and promote “qi” flow. There will be accompanied joint movements which include arm and leg shakes, extensions and rotations that complement the overall treatment.

This benefits me in…

- relieving your chronic pain associated with the muscles, joints, and skeletal system.

- effective for joint pain (such as arthritis), muscle spasms, and pain in the back, neck, and shoulders.

- helps chronic conditions such as insomnia, constipation, headaches (including migraines), and the tension associated with stress.
