You will be treated to a rhythmic sequence on acupuncture meridians using the finger pressure of your masseuse. The Shiatsu is a form of Japanese bodywork like acupuncture; it is based on the holistic system of traditional Chinese medicine, where illness is thought to result from imbalances in the natural flow of energy, or “qi” through the body. Shiatsu therapists use finger and palm pressure to energetic pathways, called meridians to improve the flow of qi.
How will I feel …
You will likely be pleasantly surprised when you try Shiatsu for the first time. It is relaxing yet the pressure is firm, and there is usually no soreness afterwards. Each pressure point is held for 2-8 seconds in improving your flow of energy and it helps your body regain balance. No massage oil is applied, so you remain fully clothed during the massage.
